AOS Emergency Fund

Most students have expenses beyond tuition, including room and board, books, meal plans and other costs. Before turning to student loans, students with financial need can look for supplemental support to help close the gap.  This need-based fund will provide critical support for students with outstanding academic achievement and promise, who may have a challenge financing their college education.

Thrive Program

The Thrive Scholars Program would not be possible without the generous contributions of our partners.

We recognize that students who have experienced foster care, homelessness, are emancipated and often require financial assistance. Many of our Thrive Scholars arrive on campus lacking the family support that most students enjoy, and the Thrive Scholars Program provides guidance and community for students to thrive. Your gift contributes to assisting students with one or more of these experiences progress towards degree completion and enhance their sense of belonging!

Promise

The Mississippi State University Promise Program is designed to help entering freshmen and community college transfer students from low-income Mississippi families attend Mississippi State.

The Promise Program funding will be utilized to support the holistic development of first-year scholars through programming that targets academic success and career readiness.

First Generation Scholar Assistance

Though TRiO SSS provides support to 165 first-generation students, the MSU population has over 30% of students who identify as first-gen.

Due to the limitations of service of the TRiO SSS grant, there is a need to provide comparable assistance to other students that may not be able to be financially supported through the program. This fund is used provide financial assistance to MSU students who identify, by definition and lived experience, as first-generation. Funds are generally used to provide support for academic supplies, targeted programming, and professional development initiatives.

The Holmes Cultural Diversity Center (HCDC) strives to enhance the college experience of students.

As a “home away from home” for students, the center is committed to cultivating a welcoming and inclusive environment that supports underrepresented student populations. We are dedicated to aligning retention factors by creating opportunities to implement holistic approaches to student success and degree attainment. Additionally, we support students by connecting them to resources and opportunities that assist them to grow intellectually, develop personally and professionally, and improve their overall well-being. Our aim is to cultivate equitable pathways that empower students to learn, live, and lead in a global and ever-changing world.
